However, there is a lot of difference in both flavor and durability between a quality Italian coffee maker and a cheap one. And if you also have an induction cooker, things get complicated. Bialetti Venus

Bialetti's Venus model has a smaller capacity, around 300 ml, which translates into about 6 cups of coffee. Its design is much more modern than the models we have in mind. It is made of stainless steel, which gives it more strength and durability, and has an ergonomic handle that is heat resistant. Its biggest advantage: it is suitable for induction cookers.

Oroley Alu's

With a very affordable price we also find the Oroley Alu Italian coffee maker. Made of aluminum and with a capacity for about 12 cups, offers a good solution for families. Cheap Italian coffee makers

Advantages of Italian coffee machines

  • Su size: we will not have to worry about whether there is more or less space in the kitchen. They have a small size thanks to which we can store them wherever we want.
  • They are really economic, so it is also another aspect to take into account.

How an Italian coffee machine works

The truth is that its operation is very simple. It has a lower section or also called a heater. We fill this part with water up to a mark that indicates us. Then we insert a filter that is made of metal and is shaped like a funnel. The the the ground coffee, we close and it will be ready to take to the fire. The water boils and through the steam our coffee will be made. When you hear a bubbling sound, then it's ready. Do not wait much longer to remove the coffee otherwise the flavor may vary quite a bit.

Conservation of an Italian coffee maker

The truth is that this type of coffee maker does not need great care. What we do have to do is clean it well after each use. We rinse it with water, removing all traces of coffee. We will not use any type of abrasive product on them, so that they always remain like the first day. Dry it well and store it disassembled. After a while you may have to change the gaskets, the rubbers or the filter.

La gasket rubber It should keep its white color, if it turns yellow or another shade, or if it shows signs of damage, you should go to your trusted hardware store and buy a new one to replace it. Keep in mind that the sealing will depend on it, and in part the pressure at which the water will rise and pass through the filter to extract the aroma and flavor...

How to make good coffee in an Italian coffee maker

Although its operating principle is as simple as the mechanism of a pacifier, a good coffee is not always achieved. So that the result is optimal, you should follow this ritual. A few simple steps and considerations that you may overlook, but that can make the difference between ordinary coffee and great coffee.

Necessary material

El material you need it's pretty simple. To start preparing the coffee, you must gather these products to have everything at hand:

  • Grinder: the ideal is to use coffee beans and grind it just at the moment you are going to use it. In this way it will preserve all its essential oils, aroma and properties. However, if you prefer to use pre-ground coffee for convenience, you can save having a grinder... Remember that the grind for this type of coffee maker must be fine, similar to the texture of table salt. This will extract all the aroma and flavor during the process.
  • Weighing machine: although it is not vital either, but it can be good to measure the exact proportion of coffee and water. The precise ratio for the best result is 1/12, that is, one part of coffee for every 12 parts of water. For example, if you are making 250 ml of water (1/4 l, approx. 250 g), you can use 21 grams of coffee. That's what the weight will do for you. Ideally, you should weigh the water that fits in the coffee maker until it reaches the valve and then weigh it. Once you know the weight, divide it by 12 and you will get the amount of coffee. You only have to do this the first time. Then you will know the proportion and the following times it will be faster...
  • Italian coffee maker.
  • Filtered water, weakly mineralized water: so that it has less taste, especially if you live in an area with very hard water. Keep in mind that this gives flavor, bad flavor. It is best to be as pure as possible. Also, if you boil the water beforehand using a saucepan or in the microwave to add it hot to the Italian coffee maker, the result will be even better.
  • Coffee grains: the coffee must be of quality, preferably grain to grind it as I have mentioned. If you opt for ground coffee, make sure it is at least a good brand of Arabica variety.
  • Milk frother: if we want to give our coffee a creamy finish, prepare a good cappuccino or simply because we like it, this accessory is essential.

Step-by-step preparation

As for the the steps to follow, they are quite simple. You just have to do the following (once you are clear about what is necessary from the previous section):

  1. Unscrew the Italian coffee maker and add the preheated water to the valve at the bottom.
  2. Put the funnel with the metal filter on the base and add the ground coffee in the proportion I said. Some prefer to press it a bit with a spoon, others leave it alone. You can taste the result, since it is a matter of taste. What you do have to make sure is that it is distributed in an even layer and there is no more thickness on one side than on the other.
  3. Now screw the top of the pot on until it is tight.
  4. The top cover must be closed during the process.
  5. Put the coffee pot on the fire so that the water begins to boil. You will begin to hear the noise of the coffee rising to the upper area.
  6. When the noise stops, remove it from the fire immediately. Although the ideal is to open the lid a little and observe that a more yellowish color begins to be seen. That will be the moment to stop it. If it is continued too long, the taste may be impregnated with unpleasant metallic flavors.
  7. Now you can pour the coffee and let the pot cool down before handling it.
